HOLIDAY MESSAGE

This was sent to me from an old friend. I though it worth sharing (with permission from the author, of course! Thanks Bonnie.)

Dear Family and Friends,

Turn off your televisions! Practice selective reading of the newspaper! Stop listening to the "news"! Resist reading and forwarding doom & gloom e-mail messages!

There should be a mandatory warning label on all media outlets that reads something like "constant bombardment of negativity is dangerous to the general well being of humans". Our minds and hearts need to be tempered with information about the many people and companies worldwide that are holding their own, doing well and actually prospering without resorting to greed.

We also need to hear and learn more about the many wonderful works of organizations, companies and individuals who are helping other human beings in a multitude of ways, like the "Sears" of the world who continue to support hurricane victims and our troops.

WHERE IS THE BALANCE? And why are we not being bombarded with the good news? Unfortunately, we all know the answer to that one.

Regardless of what we are being told and by whom, almost everything known to man has a cycle - the rotation of the earth, our blood flow, electricity, relationships, time and yes - the economy. Some cycles are obviously more severe and challenging than others. But, if we stay focused on our blessings, stop the negative talk and panic, and make it our personal responsibility to have a positive effect on at least one other human being, we will encourage a positive and unstoppable trend.

If we pay our blessings forward, we will continue the cycle that keeps humankind in a position of strength; and sends a message that greed and unaccountable actions are no longer acceptable.

Most of you know my passion for looking on the bright side and looking at things a little differently. Sometimes I feel like a 3 year old constantly asking "why". I think it is important for us to fully understand the reasons why things are the way they are, and know that every situation cannot be traced back to the economy.

Everyone receiving this message is a kind heart and giving individual. Many of us have lost some, part or all of our retirement investments - for the moment. Several have lost jobs and others may follow, but all have the capacity to excel with new opportunities. If we are not the ones who are afraid, nervous or in a tenuous position at this time, we know someone who is. With the help of family, friends, faith and organizations skilled in various areas of need, we will all be ok.

We all have so much to be thankful for - today and every day. Every day is a gift that should be celebrated, regardless of the economy or whatever lousy piece of news we hear or read.

Continue to put good and positive thoughts out into the universe. And thank you for your gifts of love, friendship, caring, hope and compassion.

I wish you all the best of celebration for everyday, in every way throughout the holiday season and 2009.
